Slow the Speed Down

When there is a high chance of fog, and you are not able to see things clearly, or maybe there is a lower visibility condition, so you need to slow down your car speed. That could be the most sensible step you can take at the time of limited visibility. It may protect you from unwanted incidents, as well.

Though, reduce your car’s speed gently, there is no need to slam on the brakes further. Just slow it gradually.

Open up Fog Lights

Well, nowadays, every other car has come up while being fitted with almost one rear foglight as its standard one, whereas, some of them also come up with front foglights as well.

Although, you need to make sure about knowing such foglight switch of your car so that you can easily turn it on at the time of your needs. Thus, turn the lights on as quickly as you find fog in your way.

Switch on the Headlights

Well, this sounds so obvious, right? but we mention this tip just because many cars have come up with automatic turn on headlight systems, where the driver doesn’t need to turn on headlights again and again, but those lights will automatically open up when they meet with a situation of dim lights.

That’s why you have to make sure to turn on your headlights and never leave them on an automatic system because when the fog hits the road, automatic lights won’t open up.

Maintain a Distance

You need to maintain the distance with other cars for about to at least a three-second gap, so that it may offer you with added time to react.

However, in such foggy situations, there is always a timely distance needed until you reach your destination, because if such cars suddenly slow down their speed or make a surprise maneuver, you may getting end up hitting them.

Clear Out Your Windows

Foggy weather produces condensation, and however, this can appear especially on the sides of inside and outside windows of your car.

So, to protect yourself and your car, you need to wipe your windows through windscreen wipers constantly, and also, you can set the car’s heater to the point of its demist so that your inside windscreen will be staying clear.

That’s why try to use beam dipped lights. This will create a dim situation and you can able to see things with a better vision.

Don’t Forget to Turn Off Foglights

Once you have noticed that the weather conditions now improved and there is more visibility, turn off the foglights now.

Though, it’s a kind of an offense to dazzle other drivers through your foglights without any need further. Just turn on the foglights on that situation where the weather isn’t good at all, and your visibility becomes too low due to fog.
